French Entrenchment Tool/Shovel

Hello everybody,

as far as I understand the standard French soldier dod not carry an entrenchment tool/shovel like the German or British armed forces.

But then I saw those pictures posted here in those forums:





Was this shovel carried often? Or only some special soldiers?

O did they carry any other shovels so they could dig in?

I know that one soldier per a section carried a shovel, but i'm not sure.

En effet comme le dit loïc la pelle individuelle est bien reglementaire dans l'armée francaise comme dans d'autre armées Europpéenne de l'époque.

Can somebody please translate? The translation tool doesn't really give me a clear translation.

What I understand is, each soldier carried his own personal shovel like any other european armyduring WW2..

But where did the French soldier carry it? What did it look like?

Je crois qu'il y a des portes-pelles ... shipper en vendent d'ailleurs .

Reglementairement le groupe de combat equipé du FM et des nouveaux equipements porte :
- Sergent, chef de groupe : cisaille
- Caporal adjoint : hache
- Tireur : bêche
- Chargeur : pelle-pioche
- 3 Pourvoyeurs (ou voltigeurs-ravitailleurs): 2 bêches et 1 serpe
- 4 voltigeurs : 2 pelles model 1916 et 2 pioches model 1916

- Sergeant, team leader: pair of shears
- Corporal: axe
- Gunner: spade
- Charger: shovel-pickaxe
- 3 Suppliers (or acrobats-supply crafts): 2 spades and 1 billhook
- 4 "voltigeurs" : 2 shovels model 1916 and 2 pickaxes model 1916
